The extraction process

Four steps. Each one matters.

Hot-water extraction isn't one technique — it's four, in order. Skip any one and the result drops a tier. Here's what happens at each step, and why none of them are optional.

  1. 01

    Walk & pre-vacuum

Every room walked, problem areas flagged, then a thorough HEPA pre-vacuum. Skipping this turns dry dirt into a slurry that sets — we always pre-vacuum.

  2. 02

    Fiber-matched pre-treatment

Chemistry matched to the carpet's fiber and what's in it. Pet urine isn't red wine isn't drywall dust. Pre-treatment dwells 10–20 minutes before extraction.

  3. 03

    Hot-water extraction

Overlapping passes — wet, dry, dry — until the recovery tank water runs clean. Truck-mount pressure pulls water back at volumes a rental can't.

  4. 04

    Groom & dry

Carpet groomed in the direction of the pile so it dries upright, not matted. Air movers positioned if you've asked for accelerated drying.

Why our extraction is different

Equipment, chemistry, and the guarantee that comes after.

The job is half equipment, half chemistry. Get either wrong and the carpet looks fine for a week then rebounds. Here's what we bring to both halves.

  • Truck-mount extraction

Pulls back water at pressures rental machines simply can't match. Carpets dry in hours, not days.

  • Pet-odor enzymes

Breaks down the proteins in the carpet pad — the actual source of the smell — not just the surface stain.

  • 14-day re-treat

If a stain wicks back to the surface after drying, we come back and re-treat it. No charge.

  • Fiber-matched chemistry

Wool, nylon, cotton, silk — different chemistry per material. We never use one-size-fits-all.

Questions we hear

About carpet & upholstery cleaning.

Drying times, pet stains, costs by room, wicking — the questions that show up in the same five inboxes every week.

How long does carpet take to dry in Eastern NC?

Four to six hours in most Wayne County homes with HVAC running. Eight hours in humid summer. We can bring air movers to speed it up for households with pets or kids who can't be off the floor for a half-day.

Will old pet stains come fully out?

Often yes — sometimes no. Depends on how old, how deeply the pad and subfloor soaked, and prior remediation. For most one- or two-spot situations, extraction with enzyme pre-treatment clears it. For heavy or repeated accidents, we may recommend pad replacement.

Are the products safe for kids and pets?

Yes. Low-residue, eco-friendly extraction solutions and pet-safe enzyme pre-treatments. We never use high-perfume products that mask odors instead of removing them. Safe to walk on once dry.

How much does carpet cleaning cost in Wayne County?

We quote by room rather than square foot — living rooms $60–$95, bedrooms $45–$70, sectionals $120–$180. Pet-treatment spots quoted separately. Minimum visit is typically three rooms or equivalent.

How often should I clean my carpets?

Once a year is the right baseline for most homes. Households with pets, multiple kids, or heavy traffic benefit from every 6–9 months. Annual cleaning also keeps most carpet manufacturer warranties intact.

Why does my carpet stain come back after drying?

Wicking — moisture deep in the pad pulls contaminants back up as it dries. Not a sign the clean failed; more was in there than one pass could extract. We re-treat affected spots at no charge within 14 days.

Do you move furniture?

We move what's safely movable on cleaning day — chairs, ottomans, light coffee tables. Sectionals and entertainment centers stay; we clean around and edge them. Mention specific pieces on the quote.
