Five Spots Most Cleaners Skip in Wayne County Homes (And Why We Don't)

The corners, crevices, and forgotten hardware that quietly separate a real clean from a quick wipe-down — what we cover on every deep clean.

We've cleaned a lot of homes across Wayne County and Eastern North Carolina — Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Kinston, Wilson, and the smaller towns in between. The one thing that consistently separates a real clean from a quick wipe-down is what happens in the corners. The spots a rushed crew can finish a job without ever touching. Here are five we always include on a deep clean, no matter the home.

1. The top of the refrigerator

Out of sight, but never out of dust. In humid Eastern NC air, kitchen grease drifts and lingers on the fridge top, gathering pollen in spring and dust through the dry months. Left for a few months, that film bakes onto the appliance and becomes nearly impossible to wipe off cleanly later.

How we handle it

A degreaser, a soft microfiber, and about three minutes of focused work. We do it every deep clean, every time — no exceptions.

2. Behind the toilet base

The hardest two square feet in any bathroom, and the difference between a bathroom that smells clean and one that actually is. We get on the floor for this one — disinfectant on a microfiber, careful around hardware, the works.

Why it matters

It's not glamorous, but it's where stray moisture builds up and where guests can smell what no amount of surface scrubbing will fix.

3. Light switches and door handles

The most-touched surfaces in your home, and the ones that show fingerprints first. Sixty seconds with a disinfecting wipe adds more visible polish than dusting an entire shelf. Once upon a time most cleaners overlooked them — now they're table stakes.

4. Window tracks and door frames

Dust collects in window tracks like sediment in a riverbed — and during pollen season in Eastern NC, you can practically watch it accumulate. We brush them out, vacuum the residue, then wipe with a damp microfiber. Door frames get the same treatment, especially the tops, which are at eye level for anyone tall enough to spot dust.

5. Inside the microwave vent

If you can see grease on the underside of the microwave, the vent above it is worse. We pop the filter, soak it in warm water with degreaser, and put it back. Most people have never had this done — you can smell the difference within hours.

Frequently asked questions

Are these spots included in your basic clean too?

Some are. Light switches and door handles always are. The deeper details — fridge top, window tracks, microwave vents — are part of our deep clean and our move-in/move-out service. The basic clean focuses on visible-surface maintenance.

How often should I book a deep clean?

For most homes in Wayne County, twice a year is plenty — once in spring to clear pollen and once in fall before holiday entertaining. Households with pets, young kids, or heavy cooking sometimes go quarterly.

Do you bring your own supplies?

Yes. We carry full kits with everything we need — microfiber cloths, eco-friendly degreasers, disinfectants safe around pets and kids, and HEPA-filter vacuums. You don't have to provide anything.

What if my home hasn't been deep-cleaned in years?

That's exactly what a first deep clean is for. We'll quote based on what we see, no judgment, and reset the home to a higher baseline so future cleanings can stay light.
